I stumbled upon this wiki one morning before going to work, and it's now about 1 week later and I still haven't left...
I got here, as most people get most places these days, from google (though actually it was indirectly, via a post of the StarCityGames? message boards). I'd come up with this great idea to make a MagicTheGathering card text generator in order to make a bunch of random cards for limited magic, and after working on it for about two weeks, finally googled the right thing and found AlexChurchill/MagicCardGenerator.
I'm into many things, some of which I will list here:
[Interactive fiction]: "Spider and Web" by Andrew Plotkin is probably both one of my all-time favorite stories and all-time favorite games. Requires a Z-machine emulator and CopiusFreeTime?.
[Peak Oil]: The end is nigh, say those without anything to gain by convincing people otherwise. Scary stuff.
MagicTheGathering: And other games of the more-complicated-the-better variety
WebComics: Although currently only the random miscellany that appears every now and again at [www.tailsteak.tk].
RolePlayingGames: GURPS is my favorite, although I've hardly ever played it. My group back in the GreatWhiteNorth? was fond of Shadowrun and the group here is playing Vampire.
Attempting to convince people that Sutton's not such a bad place to live, usually after I explain to them where exactly Sutton is...
Random and interesting programming problems that seem to gravitate to me and buzz around like vaguely distracting fireflies until I find the time, energy and insight to squash 'em. One such example is the [/NameGenerator random name-like name generator] I managed to port to MoonShadow's BNF generator script.
As this is my first WikiExperience?, some things are going to take some getting used to. I've already made at least one mess, inadvertently tried submitting WikiSpam, and there's even a nasty rumour going around that I forgot my password! I've been asking general WikiUsage? questions here, and as they seem to be being answered (thank you!), will likely continue to do so:
Editing a page is in no way a mess. You created a conversation. That's a good thing. For usage suggestions - most of us live on RecentChanges. Taking a moment to get the hang of : '' ''' and similar may help you. Welcome. Come, enjoy, speculate about the upcoming horrors of champions of kamigawa... --Vitenka
Hehe... well, for the first time in history, I've actually managed to not look at any previews or spoilers for a new Magic expansion. So, except for the Japanesey theme, I've no idea what to expect. It's actually a little scary. I've had nightmares. --Jwanders
Excellent - good for you! I normally live on rumour / spoiler pages for the month before any new release, but I did precisely what you are this time last year. I turned up at the Mirrodin prerelease having heard *nothing* except that it was some kind of "artifact set". The report is here :) I thoroughly look forward to meeting you there! I wonder what I can bring to be distinctive enough. I can wear a PhoenixFeathers T-shirt, I guess :) --AlexChurchill
PeterTaylor's planning on wearing his brand new "My money went to Nigeria and all I got is this lousy t-shirt" t-shirt.
The spoilers will scare you more. One interesting mechanic that affects other sets, one strange mechanic and two horribly overpowered mechanics. --Vitenka (You need a space before the -- for it to work, BTW)
Alright, so, is there a way in the WonderfulWorldofWiki? to add an external link with arbitrary linked text without square brackets around it? So, like "[new venue]", but without the brackets?
If there is, and you find it, tell MoonShadow about it so that it can be fixed. External links are marked as stuff, to help prevent confusion - otherwise something that looks like a WikiWord could take you to a HorriblePlace?... --Vitenka
Does anyone know what I might have done to deserve this:
The posted text contains the URL of a commercial site that advertises using wiki spam. This practice is not tolerated and such URLs will therefore be censored.
upon trying to save a innocent, non-url-containing little comment to the Google page?
Try again... I've removed the evil phrase which was blocking the edits --K
What would one do if one, hypothetically, had forgotten one's password?
Depending on how much time one's spent configuring settings - some of us have quite intricate bookmark bars :) - one could either email me and ask me to reset it, or one could just create oneself a new user ID. The password isn't actually protecting all that much - there's nothing in the wiki script to prevent two IDs having the same username (which is why you have to log in using your ID rather than your username); it's seen as something for people to resolve rather than something to be enforced, much the way mail header forging on usenet works. - MoonShadow
