Made [famous] by a Net Quiz.

Interestingly, [this] usenet post (dated 1996) is the only reference to said mysterious comestible that does not consist of people asking what the quiz was on about.

If you would like to try a SausageOfPower, you can. The Sainsbury's in Cambridge town centre has them. Go in through the main entrance and immediately turn right, so you are facing the delicatessen stall. The Sausages are in a stand immediately by your right elbow, next to the door you came in through. In order of mild to blow-your-head-off:

Very mild, very soft. Tastes a little of mushrooms. Rather nice.

Sour. Bland. The little ones in the snack section are better. Maybe MoonShadow will try grilling some.
Bland? Try to find somewhere which sells proper chorizo, then.

MoonShadow hasn't tried this one yet.

Dry and robust. Camping food. Very addictive. Cut small chunks, otherwise you'll break your teeth. Goes nicely in carbonara, if you can afford it.
Milano goes well in carbonara too in MikeJeggo's opinion

The only Sausage that doesn't need peeling. The ends are the best part (1:1 meat:peppercorn surface area ratio!).

All of these form good student food: despite the apparent expense, each one forms a complete meal when combined with the appropriate amount of bread and VegetableOfTheDay (except La Seche, which is two meals), and they do not require a 'fridge.

Sainsbury's? Why not one of the german supermarkts - Aldi or Lidl. They always seem to have a big range of large sausages which I can't eat (Don't eat pigmeat)--Garbled
