A case where a slightly different, and usually weaker, argument is demolished, instead of one that has actually been put forward. Sometimes things that appear to be deliberate cases of StrawMan can be the result of an honest mistake or bad wording, and are soon cleared up. At other times, the StrawMan persists, possibly implying the people having the debate are starting from different underlying Axioms?.
