Bah humbug.  If you start giving me exceptions, you're all likely to wind up dead.  I've got toothache.  You wouldn't like me when I've got toothache.  --Vitenka

Is it? The Hebrew? is "Lo Tirtzach". Google: tirtzach gives about 50:50 between "killing of innocents" (murder) and "[any kind of killing] [whatsoever]". Perhaps Garbled, who IIRC has studied Hebrew?, can shed some light? - MoonShadow
Hebrew words change according to their vowels, but is written without, so it is quite easy to get misunderstandings (There are quite a lot of arguments on this amongst Jews as well as Christians.)
I would tend towards it being "Thou shalt not do murder", which is in the scope of it, and less ambiguous. Garbled

Thou shalt kill when God tells you it's OK. Oh, and [Hitherby].
