I seem to recall you own an external (probably USB) IDE Hard-Drive caddy. I was going to borrow it from you some number of prereleases ago, but everything fell through. Would it be possible to borrow it? I'm expecting to see Alex at the next Magic prerelease on 29th January. Unfortunately (from your PoV?), I won't be at the one after that (it's 10 days before Rachel's due-date); and chances are not the one after that (I'll have a 4-month-old), so it might not make it back to you for a year. (Alternatives obviously include posting it back if it's not too heavy for sensible parcel costs; or couriering via Alex if we meet up with the Churchills otherwise). Also... any chance I could borrow Little King's Story? I've decided not to buy it (in preference to LostWinds?), but I'd be interested in playing it. Same loan timescales would have to apply, but with better chance of postage. Ta, ChrisHowlett. : The USB drive caddy you're welcome to just hang on to until you're in contact with someone from Cambridge next, I've not used it for two years and don't expect to start :) Little King's Story I'll lend you if I've completed it by then, but given the loan timescale I'd rather hang on to it if I haven't yet, sorry ^^; (currently stuck on fat faux-french king pinball boss) --MoonShadow :That seems entirely fair - I wasn't clear from your recommendation whether you'd finished it yet or not. I'll remind you nearer the time about the caddy as well. Thanks! This is me, nearer the time, reminding you about the caddy. Alex is expecting to courier it, so if you could pass it on to him sometime before next Saturday, that's be peachy. Cheers! --CH :I suggest either Eden this Sunday, if you happen to be there in the morning, or failing that Thursday evening? --AC :Caddy received, thanks. I'll let you know how I get on. :Now, where did I leave those drives..? --CH Ok, silly question, but how do I open it to attach a drive? I don't want to pull anything too hard without knowing I'm supposed to. Second, there's a socket marked DC-In but without specifying voltage; I can't remember what the standard voltage for an IDE device is. Can you enlighten me? --CH To the first - no idea, I'm afraid; I got it in a large pile of free stuff from a coworker, and have never used it. To the second - I've now located what I *think* is its power supply (we've spent the last two days moving and packing *everything*); it is 12v 2A DC, positive tip. --MS? :12V, 2A? Hmm. I've definitely got a 12V 0.5A (well, it's variable up to 12V, and max 6 Watt), but I'd have to rummage for a 12V 2A. Before I do, is it definitely a drive caddy? It seems surprisingly heavy, and says '3.5" External Disc Drive' on it, which makes me suspect it may, in fact, just be an external drive. --CH ::An external drive is an internal drive in a drive caddy. This one is IDE. Open it up and double-check for yourself ;) --MS? ::Ah, it unscrews on the bottom. Yep, that looks right. --CH As it happens, I'm seeing Alex again at the end of the month. Any chance you could pass the cable to him before March 26th? --CH ---- |
