Terminator^H^H^H^W Governor of California?.
The DailyTelegraph's quick crossword often encodes a pun into the solutions to the first few across clues. Two days ago it ran a crossword which produced: 1. Deter. 5. Minotaur. 8. Calif. 10. Governor.

To my knowledge, he kept dodging issues and not attending debates.  As to celebrities and elections-cum-popularity-contests, one must remember that before Ronald Reagan was first governor of California and later president of the entire USA, he was also a very popular actor.  Things run whacked in California. --Nataku

Work blocks bbspot.  Not sure why.  Last I heard he was avoiding actually having a position or promising anything - or is that link different?  (Side note: The tories are promising increased spending and raised taxes.  Also, I presume, greener grass.)  --Vitenka
It's a "scripted interview" in which he recites his lines with a level of disregard for the questions he's being asked.
