Silly things one occasionally finds in crisp packets.

Just to actually expand this, so that it gives a little information about which particular bit of tat found in crisp packets it is referring to:  BeyBlades are SpinningTops? which are spun at each other - the last SpinnyThingy? left spinning wins.  Their marketing gimmick is that the spinners are actually constructed of multiple collectible pieces, and, in theory, one can construct a better SpinnyThingy? or one more suited to a particular opponent (build fast or build heavy, RockPaperScissors choice type thing).  Also, inevitably, it has an awful /Anime? which invokes 'the spirit of the blades' or some such.  Having nice monsters spring up of the spinners would make it actually amusing - sadly, this doesn't happen in RealLife.  --Vitenka
It's an anime? Not according to CategoryAnime it's not, being in no way aimed at anyone who has personal experience of puberty.
Well, it's some form of animation in the graphical style of an anime.  Let's not get into this argument here, and save it for there.  I'm sticking with 'I know it when I see it' and 'they have hair and eyes larger than their torsos'  --Vitenka
As far as I remember, the plot of the 'anime' ran thusly: the Generic Arrogant Hero, his Generic Good-Natured Friend, the Random Third Guy Who Made Up The Numbers (was he Japanese?) and the Vaguely Tormented Generic Antihero/Rival? travelled the world, engaging in tournaments to determine who was the best at... launching rotating bits of plastic into a dome. Yeah. Or something like that. It was bad. --Anonyman
CynicalMode : WalkersCrisps? had a stack of Pogs? that they were unable to give away.  They stuck spikes through the middle and renamed them.  --Vitenka

Were I equipped with cousins/siblings of an age to play this seriously, I'd take the time to play with my dad's metal lathe, and a lump of mild steel stock, and turn out something roughly cylindrical with a point, an utterly smooth side, and a point on the top to attach an electric drill, for spinning up purposes. That ought to produce a 'top' which will see off any combination of little bits of rotating plastic. Fortunatly, I'm not. -- TI
But without spiky bits, from where would the monster emerge?  --Vitenka
I *could* add spikes - milling machines are good for that sort of thing - but it would then be quite capable of taking the skin off of someone's hand; which might be seen as an undesirable feature. -- TI
I suspect that the giant face eating dragons would be more of an issue...  --Vitenka
