An ancient alternative to New Year which I really think ought to be resurrected, if only as a theme for a New Year's Eve party. [Wikipedia entry]

I'd skip the medieval bit, and go straight back to the Saturnalia version, where a [Lord of Misrule] is elected, who gets, for the evening, to be able to order anyone to do anything (or face a forfeit). If one combined this with a Nomic, or something Mao like, this could make for a very weird evening. Needs more thought. --DR
