Getting to it by any other means than punting is generally considered heretical. Despite being outside Cambridge city limits, the numerous Cantabrigians found here bring the CambridgeAura with them.
Fun things to do at Granchester include: Have scones, tea and/or cakes at TheOrchard. (Are scones cakes? I suppose so but they deserve a special mention anyway) Have a BarbecueByTheRiver?. Play frisbee on the meadows. Fall half in the Cam while trying to push the punt off in the dark.
Or fall fully in the Cam, pushed off by a low tree branch.
[1] For certain values of short, it can take over one and a half hours even with an experienced punter if its windy, though its much shorter on the way back.
