Yes I figured that looking at sevens would be the right idea, but I didn't think to look there. The chain I mentioned moves like this:
R5C2 -> R5C1 -> R2C1 (split path:)
R2C8 -> R9C8 -> R9C5 -> R8C5 (if start is 7)
R2C89 pair -> R1C7 -> R8C9 -> R8C5 (if start is 6)
I usually don't look at the title though so I would have definitely been completely oblivious to that
