I watched the first episode of this straight after the first ep of PrinceOfTennis and the truly amusing thing is that they are based on the same premise... A young, but very talented child, moving through their field of expertise.

The difference though, is moving from the quintessentially shounen to the quintessentially shoujo. (Anyone who knows me should, at this point, have a fair idea about which show I'm likely to keep watching ^^;)

Piano is a show about an 8th grade school girl (I'm guessing that means she's about 12) who has been learning the piano for 6 years and obviously (to everyone but her) has a lot of talent.

This is not a 'pastel-sparklies', 'characters running down eternal stairways' shoujo anime, but rather one that looks like it is going to be very cute and sweet and tell us a lot about the characters...

I'm planning to watch more, but be warned, this looks like it is only going to be for true shoujo fans...

Having watched a little more, it seems that this is going to be one of those shows where practically nothing actually happens :)

It does have quite a cool piano teacher in it though, who has so far applied the well known teaching method of staring out of a window throughout the entire lesson for every lesson she has been to...
