{misquote}
I say Five.  That's the magic number.
Oh yes five.  That's the magic number.
One plus one!  What is it?  Five.
And that's the magic number.

That's right, the magic number is now five.

Five is the lower bound on short term memory (usually quoted as being the ability to remember seven things at once - plus or minus two).

Things just fall naturally into fives.

Except when they fall naturally into another number.

This is just yet another example of seeing whatever pattern you are out looking for, I guess.

Although definitely true in Exalted, which has:
Five types of Exalted
Five castes for four of these five types (with the caveat that the fifth had two more once)
How did that happen?
Given the makers of the game and thier love for MetaPlot?, it is undoubtably an important secret.  --Vitenka
It's more like - "Lunar Charms are Attribute based, so that's one caste for each set of attributes." "But that's not 5, it's 3." "Ah, well - we'll invent a reason. I know - the Castes were lost to the Wyld."
Five elements
Five Maidens
Five Dragons
Five Exalted in a traditional circle
Five Astrological Houses
Twenty-five constellations (yup, five in each house)
Twenty-five different skills (five per caste, usually)
Five classes of spirits (Demons, Elementals, Least Gods, Regional Gods and the Incarna)
Any others?
Five directions
Five seasons
And five days in Calibration...
Five planes of existence (Creation, the Underworld, Malfeas, Autochthonia, and Yu-Shan), although this is scraping the bottom of the barrel
Especially because you missed out Yu-Shun.
OOps, corrected. Knew it had to be 5, and the Wyld doesn't really count --Requiem
