[Star Chamber]

Star Chamber is a space MMORPG (online strategy game) with CCG elements. It's free to play but if you want decent cards, you'll need to pay for them.

Xarak thinks that Star Chamber seems like a very good game. The three possible ways to achieve victory ( Military, Political and Cultural ) means that a genuine strategy is needed, and forward planning is essential. No infinite life combos or tank rushes here ^_^ There are a lot of card sets now available, and the new Matrix client comes with single player campaigns and the ability for 3 or 4 way multiplayer games.

I played for a while, once. Then I lost the install. Since then I can't find any way to play for free. You cannot compete with just the free set of cards and there are very few people in the newbie lobby to play. The computer is pretty trivial to beat. An odd idea, quite fun but not worth paying for IMHO. I also strenuously deny it's an MMORPG - it's a lobby matching service for a bog standard 2-4 player card game with slight graphical enhancements. --Vitenka

: There's no real time mechanic - I'll agree that the connected node layout is unusual in a CardGame, but not unheard of. The rest of it (fleets and events) is almost identical to any number of card games - one in particular I'm thinking of even has very similar races. It's a pretty good game - but it's a shame it's a computer game. That's my impression. --Vitenka
