I had trouble applying this concept to the ToothyWiki until I realised that it all comes down to your definition of Signal...
There are two of Signal but there is no character named Noise, so what kind of ratio is that? -- Nataku
When all you have is a random chatboard, everything is signal. If you're attempting to maintain discussion on a point, or convey facts - only then can you have noise. Noise is, after all, perfectly compressed information. --Vitenka
(PeterTaylor) Perfectly compressed information is statistically indistinguishable from noise. That doesn't mean that noise is information.
Actually, in InformationTheoretic? terms... -- Senji
Mmmm.. that was what I meant, though I guess BusinessStudies? would want me to claim it's perfectly compressed data - which doesn't become information until someone interprets it. --Vitenka
The ratio is actually surprisingly low on this wiki within certain pages / namespaces ^^; - MoonShadow
