Artemesia Slowley, second daughter of Pigwotflies was a sensitive child. She spent much of her time studying art and working in the Salon, where she came to regard the Salon owner as a kind of mentor. There were some troublesome times in her childhood, and she missed two harvest festivals by disappearing at the crucial moment. Her father never did understand why this happened.

Her earliest successful job was working for the Church, which she continued off and on throughout her life, scoring highly on faith and morality. Her adventuring career was rather less successful than her sister's, as she killed no monsters, although she did meet a unicorn and spend nights dancing with the fairies. The latter led to her winning the cooking competition in her 18th year. She also won the art competition, aged 14, with her third painting, Ascent with Angels.

As befits such a sensitive and artistic young woman, she grew up to an Artist, succeeding Filkins as the Palace Artist. She painted a series of paintings which were displayed throughout the city, in the Palace, Church and Day Centre, which led to the city gaining a reputation as an artistic centre. Her paintings were of such sensitivity and emotion that many who saw them were moved to tears and she was to be the favourite artist of nobility and commoner alike for many years to come. She only managed to talk to a young officer at the Palace once, due to her father's forgetfulness and her own disappearance at inconvenient moments. She married a merchant with a kind heart and a strong will. Although her maternal instinct was somewhat lacking, her patron Neptune hoped that she would one day make a good mother.
