A new racing game that Hawk likes a lot.  There's only a demo of it out so far.  Have a look [here].

Thats cool.  I quite like it, but do you know how to power slide the car?  For some reason, if you try to power slide a corner, the tyres automatically point in the direction the car is travelling as if it had some sort of automatic skid correction.  - Kazuhiko *brakes?  What brakes?*

You can't really do a power slide in a FWD car (I guess you are using the FWD).  To unlock the RWD cars put a few pro AIs on the skid pad, and do 2 lap races to earn credits (the AIs don't start at all on the skid pad).  You should be able to pull off some decent power slides in the turbo :-) - Hawk

Now, I may be a heretic - but my computer doesn't want to accept the presence of a joystick and I don't own a wheel.  And the keyboard control is nothing short of unplayable.  Can I make mouse up/down be accelerate and brake?  And (just to cause you to scream) does it have an arcade type mode where the controls are a little more forgiving? :)

I don't know anything about the mouse control, though I think if you had mouse up/down for accelerate as well as mouse left/right for steering then it'd be impossible.  I think there are aids for throttle and brake when you have them controlled by buttons, make sure their turned on (sorry, in the wrong OS to find out which menu their on ATM).
If you can get a joystick working that'd probably be good, I drove GrandPrixLegends with a joystick for a number of months, luckily it had throttle axis, so I assigned left/right/down to left/right/brake and the throttle to accelerate to make it easier to find the neutral position and make "left foot braking" possible. - Hawk

Well, I've only got a very crappy joystick anyway - and I don't want to go through the pain of trying to install it again.  Last time I tried, it recognised my scanner as a joystick and refused to talk to the printer any more.  Seriously though, this game really seems to be trying its hardest to give itself a bad name in my eyes.  It is simply unplayable with the default settings, and I can't seem to find any sensible settings to change that.  Mouse doesn't want accelerator control at all, and keyboard you seem to only have 'foot down' on either pedal.  The less than obvious viewpoint is a bit of a problem too.  Then again, my favorite racing game is QuakeRally - so it may not be aimed at me ;)
Hmm, probably not - its designed for people used to racing sims that have steering wheels and pedals, and the defaults work fine for those.  Maybe it should carry a warning: Sorry, heretics not supported :o) Hawk
Well, I hope for their sake they're intending to sell it for large sums per copy...  And it looked semi-pretty too.  Oh well.  Hl-rally should be out any month now ;)
