The T-junction is marked with no entry signs, and Round Church Street is a one-way street heading Eastbound (towards Park Street). Vehicles travelling down Round Church Street see a "no left turn" sign, and there are cycle lanes that both follow the road in a bend to the right and bend to the left respectively.
It seems remarkably stupid to create a cycle lane specially for the purpose of allowing cyclists to turn left at a junction, and then forbid them from doing so.
Cyclists who pay attention will notice that the "No left turn" sign before the junction has an "Except cyclists" sign attached. The council should, however, attach an "Except cyclists" sign to the "No left turn" sign on the other side of Park Street.
True, and I had noticed that. However, the command of a sign that says "no left turn except cyclists" is a subset of the command of a sign that says "no left turn", therefore the two taken together equate to "no left turn". --Admiral
Many cyclists travelling Southwards down Park Street turn right suddenly, unexpectedly, and illegally without signalling into Round Church Street. They are usually cycling reasonably slowly, so I usually try to overtake them. I often have to brake hard to avoid crashing into someone who breaks hard right in front of me. One of these days I presume I will have a crash, even though I know of the black spot and make sure I always have my fingers on the brake levers.
