You thought KeenSpace / Spot etc. was annoying for being single point of failure? Modern Tales has all of its misfeatures, plus it is subscription only.

Luckily, it is mostly bad. But they don't hold stable URL archives to show which ones are good. Which I suspect limits their subscriptions somewhat.

"Have you seen this? It's really good. No, what's the URL? Uh, ah - you can't see it. But it's good! Pay them money to find out!"

Anyway. Of the comics it swallowed, only narbonic and glychless I really miss - and Glych had stopped updating regularly some time ago.

Of course, on the plus side, those artists inside of it actually make a living now.
