The issue most likely to be decisive for me in casting my vote in the European election this June is the matter of software patents, currently the subject of a proposed Directive, and looking likely to come before the European Parliament this autumn. If introduced, they would have a significant negative impact on my professional life and hobbyist programming. I would therefore be grateful if you could answer the following questions:

1. What is your party policy on software patents?
2. Is this policy a whipping matter?
3. If not, what are the views of your candidates in the Eastern region on it?
4. Do you have any comments on the behaviour of the Council of Ministers over the proposed Directive?

More appropriate than you may think. My sources (who are really rather good in this regard) inform me that the person responsible for the EPLP's stance is Mrs. Eryl McNally? who's constituancy happens to be Easten, ie: The Cambridge one. --Edith
