Ambient Rhythm is updated on Tuesday and Friday

I found this petition the other day, calling for the government to recognise that science is vital and not to reduce its funding. Obviously, I am biased about this issue, and I do recognise that just about everything needs to be cut back in the present economic climate (a phrase I am beginning to loathe), but science is pretty important to the economy, and just about the only thing the UK exports any more is knowledge and expertise. For the size of the population, we produce more good science than most countries (the website says we produce over 10% of global scientific output with only 1% of the global population, for what it's worth). So - if you agree with the petition, please do sign it. And if not, go and sign the one you do agree with. It's worth making a fuss about.
