A keyboard layout that allows you to type all the most common letters without moving your fingers from the home row.  As opposed to Qwerty, which was designed to slow typing speed down, and to allow you to type 'typewriter' using only letters on the top row.

The slow typing speed down is disputed by about 50% of sources on the Web.
OK, it wasn't actually designed to slow typing speed down - just designed that letters which occur next to each other in words don't have keys which are next to each other, because otherwise typing said two letters quickly one after the other causes typewriters to jam.  I still think that having all common letters easy to reach is a better design goal, though. --Angoel
