Each player is dealt 6 cards, and the top card of the remainder is turned face up to start the discard pile.
Dealer's left starts, and play moves left.
On your turn, you may, if you are able, play a card which is either of the same suit as the top card of the discard pile, or is the next suit up in the cycle CDHSC. If you are unable or unwilling, you draw a card.
If the draw pile is exhausted, all but the top card of the discard pile are shuffled to form a new one. If there was only one card in the discard pile, try shuffling another deck in and starting again. Or play with fewer players.
The first player to exhaust their hand wins.
There is an obvious variation where when you draw you may, if the card drawn can be legitimately played, play it that turn. I haven't played enough to determine whether this is better.
