This all changed, however, on one fateful trip into the desert... A passing salesman had conned the family into buying a "Demon Horn". A demon in the desert took an interest in this device, and offered to trade it for "Circe's Charm" - not an item at all, but a great boost to Charisma and Refinement, in return for all Chiriko's morals... As this occured at the age of 17, there was very little time to recover.
She chose her career in the end as a bounty hunter, and her amoral attitude scared away any potential suitors.

My daughter was also stopped by the War God. The bounty hunter ending sounds pretty scary. And I can imagine such a lifestyle would be intimidating to most mediaeval men. Scary yet cool... much like the lady herself, and in fact, highly appropriate to her father! >:-) --AlexChurchill
On re-reading this, I suddenly spotted an alternate interpretation. What was the deadly mistake: trading away the morals, or keeping them high in the first place?? I thought initially that you meant working in the Church had been the mistake ^^;;;
