Lunchtime. Behind MoonShadow, a DreamCast console is hooked up to a TV, playing through the [Bangai-O] intro sequence, over and over again. It consists of pictures of a blue-haired lad, a yellow-haired little girl, a white-haired geezer in a labcoat and lots of fists. Oh, and a mecha.

I've written below that proportion of the intro which is transcribable. Now other people's brains can turn to mush too. The stuff in italics are descriptions of the pictures; the rest appears in bold type between them, silent-movie-style.

Way off in the distant future, on the dan star, lives a hotblooded young man.
(blue-haired guy getting punched lots)
Man, do you have eyes in your thick head? That crazy car is now dented!
(blue-haired guy getting punched lots)
What are you saying? You were not paying attention!
(blue-haired guy getting punched lots)
Hey, shorty! Are you mocking the SF Kosmogang?
(blue-haired guy getting punched lots)
Ouch. Damned bandits. Next time we meet, things won't be so simple. Father, I'm back!
(blue-haired guy on floor. lab-coat geezer appears.)
Tell me. Tell me, what does it mean?
(yellow-haired girl appears)
Brother! Riki, are you..?
(mess of characters and fists)
Mami, what does it all mean?
Oh! Hello, father!
Obnoxious men have suddenly...
Ri.. Riki.. Father!
I was not paying attention. The men finally noticed me as I was hacking..
(white-haired geezer)
To beat the SF cosmo gang, you must use their own data against them.
(blue-haired lad gasps)
SF
KOSMO
GANG?!
(white-haired geezer)
Wait, Riki! When anger overwhelms you, you cannot win!
(pans and sliding shots over mecha)
From the embodiment of evil, to the envoy of justice - a magnificent transformation.
Your friend is.. BANGAI-O!
(blue-haired lad)
Bangai-o? The name means nothing.
Understood, father! I shall beat the men!
(blonde girl)
Riki, take me with you!
Go! Go, Riki and Mami!

Well, I suppose that is fair vengeance for my reminding you of the existence of DigiCharat.  Just... don't ever do that again, OK?  --Vitenka

I found it!  I found a copy!  I found and now own a copy!

Any chance of a screenshot or two? - MoonShadow

Allow me to quote to you from the manual.  Please, when reading this, remind yourself that this is not insane banter designed solely for WikiConsumption - this is actual text from a manual designed to help you play the game. Does the phrase "actual text" cover also the many typos?
Some of them, yes.  But probably not all.  I'll scan it and send in screenshots after work.  The gameplay is highly disappointing though - I was expecting more insanity.  Instead, you have direction of motion and direction of fire - both on the left of the controller.  --Vitenka

Image: 80 Mrs M.  Informer:  A very attractive woman with whom you communicate via all news satellites positioned in space.  She conveys highly useful, yet at times totally stupid information. Unfortunately, she is very miserly and demands high information fees.  Normally a housefwife residing in Minami Senju who has been married for three years, she keeps her activities as an informer secret from her husband.  She allegedly buys ties or stuff like that from her husbands income.  (Her picture is her wearing a suit of broccoli.)

Montgomery.  A sheep from Mongolia which talks like pulp fiction.  Appears to be harmless, but rambles on all day.

Black Riki.  He appears as Riki's double.  He tries to defeat Riki to become the main character.  In truth, he is Riki's younger brother "Sabura" who wants revenge on his family because they abaandoned him.  After he found out that Riki is the main character of the game, he challenged him since he always wanted to be the main character in a game.

Just in case anyone else ever tries to play this game:
Set it to 'ABXY' mode, rather than 'ab' mode - that way the buttons direct your fire in the same way that the joystick does.  I don't know WHAT they were thinking with ab mode.  Turning 'replay' on means that you don't get the strange communications.  And they are very strange.  I just met a boss who speaks only in little doodles of fish.  Once you get the idea of the controls, the game is actually quite easy - though with 44 levels and two challenges (least time and don't get hit) that's sure to change.  Review?  Cheesy but surreal.  --Vitenka

[It's coming again...]  --Vitenka
Ok, I got the DS version, and it suck... well ok.  It's very different from the DreamCast one.  First up, it's joypad only, no use of the DS TouchScreen?, which is a shame.  Then there's the fact that it sticks you with AB mode only.  You have to fire in the direction of motion, or use a complicated locking manoeuvre.  It's a real pain.  Then... the only CutScene? you get is the tutorial, there's no mad bits in the levels and it's basically a collection of puzzles, requiring you to use the different weapons (there are about 8, you choose 4 per level, two main and two for your super weapon) to solve them.  It really is completely different.  It has a really nifty save/transmit for user created levels though - just hold it up to a microphone and let it squeal.  --Vitenka
