I have 1, 2, 5, 6 and the uprights, after a lot of puzzling. (Are people from this reality allowed to post on CantaWiki?) --Rachael
Oh, now that's just confusing. (The puzzle and the question)
I think so :) I found it easier than the others - assuming, that is, I actually got the ones I guessed right - but that's because I guessed one of the uprights. Not got it all yet, though... - SunKitten
I've eventually managed it all, although I did need the hints for most of it (all except 2, in order to get started - once I had 2 & 3, though, the uprights were obvious and it became much easier). And I did have to do a dictionary search for the first and last letters of 7. Good and tricky. --CH
Your dictionary is clearly more extensive than the Debian Woody /usr/share/dict/words, which contains one word matching those letters, which is a Basque name. --HologramsAsYetUnnamedFlatmate??
The dessert that my first is said to be in is pudding. Nagi demanded to be given it at one point, which is perhaps not very surprising. My second is also a brand of cigarettes popularised in Japanese fiction. My third is symbolic of the end, the thing which comes last. People allegedly mistakenly use a synonym of "exit" to mean the female of my fourth. My fifth is also a gene. My sixth is something which a wiki has more of than newsgroups but much less of than other sorts of web forum. My last comes from the greek, and means "one who carves my sixths on wood". My uprights were dropped by my author's familiar.
Ahha - now I know both uprights and the answers to 2, 3, 4 (which I got wrong at first), 5, and 6, but my 7th is blatantly wrong and I still don't know 1. But I still like it - the first one I could guess... ^^;; - SunKitten
