MoonShadow was trying to decide whether white should play at a, c or d.
Firstly, some random wibble. The group on the top left is rather weak, and needs either to be extended to give it some eye space or to be connected to the group on the top right. The group on the top right is reasonably strong (ie you could probably kill it if you were a better go player than I ;), particularly because if black tries to kill it, then there are a number of threats to the black stones underneath.
I think that (a) is probably white's best move of these three - it provides eye space, it's in sente as black must respond or risk the bottom left corner falling into white hands, it eliminates a liberty from black's L shaped group from the top (which is useful as that means you can get an extra play if trying to link the top left and top right). It has minus sides, namely that black's response will probably lock the bottom left corner down even further (and without a successful bottom left invasion, or bottom right rescue, white seems unlikely to win).
The play (c) leads to some interesting play, and as I'm hopeless at reading, I'm not sure whether black can cut off the top left corner with the response at (b) or not (or more accurately, I'm not sure whether black can cut off said corner without sacrificing horribly in a massive ko-fight.) I wonder whether white (b) wouldn't be a better move, since this strengthens the weak top left group, but I suppose it depends how alive MoonShadow was considering the top right group.
The play (d) gives a strong connection to the middle, and again strengthens the top right group. It still leaves the top left group weak, though.
