What's the harm in it? It's not as if 'phoning people is almost free, like spamming is. It's only really an issue if there are one of more people that you specifically don't want to call you. I've never heard of anyone getting junk calls by putting their number on the web. --M-A

I'm thinking: sooner or later, I will come across a net weirdo / stalker. Such things tend, alas, to be more likely if one is female, but men get their share too. If they put my nick, email address or real name into Google, do I really want Google to spit out my 'phone number or real life address (which are in practice equivalent, since reverse lookup CDs are very easy to get hold of)? But then I'm paranoid ;) - MoonShadow

I note that /MageInquisitor has also supplied s phone number.  I'm not too paranoid about stalker myself.  They can find my number easily enough from directory enquiries in Cambridge + my real name.  And it is spammed on 1000 CV job applications across the net.  No, the reason I havn't put my number on my page, is I hate being woken up in the morning.  I am not a believer in synchronous communication. --/MagePallando

I'm not worried about reverse lookup, since the phone number is ephemeral, and we're staying ex-drectory (simply because the number would be out of date by the time the phone book came out). I also give my number out pretty freely, so I'll assume that nay stalker-type will probably be someone who knows me, and will probably be able to just ask a friend for my number. (Anyway, I play Assassins, I have a pretty good idea what is and isn't useful for stalking someone). That said, I don't want to be woken up in the morning. I've once had someone decide to make sexually explicit phone calls to me because I gave my phone number on the net. That didn't last long after I kept a phone near my PC and everytime he called, played BarbieGirl at him till probably long after he hung up. But in general, I love to talk and it's unlikely people will bother calling unless they have something to talk about. --/MageKitiara
