Onizuka is a thug and an ex-biker, but he wants to be a teacher. The series follows his attempts to cope with a class who are out of line in various disturbing ways. Very funny. It's drawn in a realistic style.

Strangely enough, while googling for DenshaOtoko, Pallando came across [this blog from a teacher in Japan] that does seem to describe a class much like GreatTeacherOnizuka's.
