The HT in HTML and HTTP


HTML is the most common current example; but the idea is much older than that.  The original idea of HyperText included the existence of MetaData? in the links, so that you could contextually map it all and also automatically know when to directly include the linked text and when to keep it 'on demand'.  --Vitenka
