They come in various sizes, from little and tweety to huge and scary. In their natural environment in sub-Saharan Africa, they occupy a variety of niches, from carrion-eating to the kind of environment favoured by various British finches; the largest varieties have been known to turn 'rogue' and terrorise small villages. However, only the 'common' or 'boring' Pigeon has been introduced to the UK (originally to carry mail); it appears to have naturalised successfully and now occupies many useful urban environments.
