Stuff:

1) What is 're'?
To quote from The Free On-line Dictionary of Computing (Feb 2002)
     2. <chat> /re-/ (From "rehi") Hello again.  A greeting
    originating in, and most often heard on, {Internet}
    interactive conversation services.
PeterTaylor wonders if that's the right context. Surely people would be more likely to encounter it in mail clients, where it is the ablative of the Latin word res?
It's the right context for the Senji/FAQ :)
Surely the common "re:" in mail headers is short for "regarding", and comes from memo pads in old papery offices?  --AC
Plus 'rehi' is ugly and its use should not be encouraged.
I never knew where it came from in the Re: usage, but re- is a fairly common english prefix.  Although usually the things it prefixes aren't words in their own right.  (Renege, Revenge...  Sensibly, relight and reconfigure)  Anyway, that makes rehi an obvious extension (I perform the action 'hi' again) and relo a NotSoObvious? bit of EvenoMoreEvil? (it's sorta from hello).  --Vitenka

2) Why do you have such a daft beard?
*THWAP*
No, really.  Why?  Tell us what you really think.  --Vitenka

3) Why "Senji"?
Way back when, many centuries ago (cue Lloyd-Webber)...
...I used to post to alt.fan.eddings.  At some point around the 25th April 1997 another poster called Nicolai decided to imitate some of the older posters (such as Aphrael), and take a name from the books (Belgarion).  This started a sort of trend, so I took Senji, which I chose because he was a sorcerer, but not a world-shattering hero.
Unfortunately, the thread in question appears not to have made it to Google Groups.

4) I'm replying to one of your USENET posts or mails to a mailing list.  Should I Cc: you so that you know that I have replied?
No.  This is a silly convention invented for the convenience of people who don't have enough time to pay attention to what they are doing.  Whilst I have an insufficiency of time, the effort I've taken to actually post should suggest that I am in fact paying attention to that discussion.
Of course, if you're doing something strange and unusual, like replying to a post 6 months old then Cc:ing me might be helpful, but why are you doing that anyway?

5) Is that your real beard?
Is that a real Frequently Asked Question?

7) Yes!
Aha!  We have managed to reverse the flow!  Who is in control of the questions now, eh?

8) Um... Vitenka, it seems...

Who, it appears, cannot count.  But what can you do?

9) What happened to 6)?
Talk to the Fox!
Also, SF did.

10) How do you do the funky stuff with the acronyms and the dotted underlining in your livejournal?
<acronym title="Your Expansion Goes Here">YEGH</acronym>

6) Why all the Nellens PCs?
Why not?

11) How often does a question need to be asked before it becomes a frequently asked question?

12) When will the plot advance?

13) What do you have against even-numbered working titles?
