Is this the one based on the spaceship?  You could either be the aliens, when you got dozens of reinforcements every turn, or the people, in which case you were usually doomed to die... -- M-A
Yes.  Badly designed missions could feel like that.

Space Hulk was interesting in that if you played by the strict rules (where the aliens got as much time as they liked to make their move, while the marines had to do everything within a set time which could be as little as two minutes) it was almost always a victory for the aliens; but if you ignored the timer than the marines' ranged weapons meant that they could almost always pick off all the aliens before they got close.

It was usually pretty balanced as far as I recall.  The only time I remember hitting the time limit problem was when dealing with two full squads.  On the other hand, I haven't played it in about 10 years so I could be mis-remembering :)  I remember losing interest completely when GamesWorkshop re-released it for £40 with precisely one rule change from the previous version (and not even a significant one) - Kazuhiko

The computer game was rather good too.  You only get to play the humans ;)
You have varying objectives - collect this, kill that, explore the other, or just get out alive - and get stuck on board a dead space ship, which may be leaking atmosphere quite rapidly.  There are scary GeneStealers? and goodness knows what else scattered around, but they're just "blips" moving around the map being scary at you until you actually see what they are.  The multiplayer cooperation/competition tension worked quite well.

I played the computer game a little, but didn't even realise that there was a multiplayer option available...  This was a _long_ time ago ^^; --Kazuhiko
