Not only is the bridge a nightmare in both directions, with large groups of tourists standing around at the top, or meandering down aimlessly - as well as the fun possible interactions with people hurtling uncontrollably down either side, but the turning by Trinity Hall is blind, but cyclists hurtle around it at speed, anyway. The bridge on the small fork up by Grange Road is also something of a menace, as CH will likely attest. - TheInquisitor

The route is a nightmare in general, but the best way from town to the Cavendish... turning cautiously by TrinityHall is recommended... allthough I quite like being able to just free wheel down the other side I don't much like it when people do it in the wet/snow when brakes really aren't going to be working all that well... but the damn tourists shouldn't stand in the middle of what is a very busy bike route and not expect people screeching to a halt in front of them - watch the road, people! (and standing around so you can't get up the bridge in one go is bloody annoying as well). -- Naath

I'd agree with this one, seeing as I have to take this route a lot. Especially in the rain, or with loads of tourists, it's kind of horrible. --Requiem

Um hello, its not a road and the pedestrians, tourist or not, have just as much right to be there as cyclists, if not more so. Speaking as somebody who has had to usher groups of EFL Students otherwise know as 'damn tourists', along what is an ideal vantage point for Clare bridge & a nice access to the backs, I am constantly warning my groups to watch out for idiotic cyclists who have no concern for those around them. I don't care if its annoying or raining, knocking over people, including small children and going too fast in a pedestrian area is not on! Sorry but its not. Here endth my rant. -Hoshi-Chan

Nobody would mind the pedestrians if they would actually proceed across the bridge. It's those who stand in the middle of the thing gawping, blocking the way of people are actually trying to get somewhere, that we -- and that's not just cyclists, but anyone who uses that bridge for the purposes of actually getting from A to B, rather than sightseeing, whether on wheels or feet -- object to.

I don't mind them being on the bridge. It's them covering the entire bridge that annoys me --Androidkiller

The blind bends at TrinityHall and GrangeRoad? fork are the sort of locations that bicycle bells are good for - proceeding cautiously is not sufficient if a mad nutter is coming the other way, so give them some warning of your existence.  Even though they may well still not notice... --MJ
