Hints
Out at Sea, word 2
It seems that Clue 2 was much harder than I intended. Here are a couple of hints:
One player got the correct answer for this clue, but thought it was two words rather than one. http://www.dictionary.com does have an entry for the correct answer as one word, though.
Word 2 is a lesser-used version of a word more normally seen with an "S" on the end. If you've been baffled by this one, you may like to have a try at thinking of words which end in "S" and fit the clue.
Nothing to do with MiniMe?. And I like the suggestion that the answer could be a "scale" (in some sense) itself, but it isn't. As the clue says, it's perfect one-eighth scale.
If you think you've got a right answer here but not solved the rest of the puzzle, you're probably wrong. From only the clue, there's no way to tell which of several possibilities is the answer here. However, the correct answer is the only one of the possibilities which shares the common property with the other five cross-lights.
There is a major property which all the cross-lights (horizontal answers) have in common, which is paraphrased by the uprights. The last line of the acrostic is significant.
In case you haven't guessed from my obliqueness and requests that discussion be away from the puzzle: there is a trick. Once someone spots the trick, they will get the uprights pretty quickly and the remaining cross-lights immediately afterwards.
