Well, the BopIt machine thingy is around a foot long, with a handle one end that you can twist, a thing the other end that you can pull and a large button in the middle (~4-5 inches across) that you can press.
You set it going, and it starts generating a rhythm and an American voice calls out from it, "Twist it!", "Pull it!", "Bop it!" or "Pass it!" (not sure about the last one), at random, in time with the beat. Do you the action it says, passing it on to the next person on "Pass it!". If you don't do the action quickly enough, you're out of this round. The beat gets faster and faster as the game goes on, so it gets harder and harder.
There's also a mode in which it makes noises related to the noises the various actions cause, rather than having the American voice calling the actions. I tend to prefer this mode. ('Pass it' only happens in a certain mode - you can get sounds and 'Pass it' mode, but the 'Pass it' is still said, not sounded.) Pulling the 'pull it' thingamy when not playing will change mode; twisting the 'twist it' thingamy when not playing will repeat the previous round's score (which is counted in noises; I think different noises correspond to different quantities of points).
Of course, what everyone's so far forgotten to mention (how could you?) is the agonzied screaming sound it makes when you lose.
There's also BopIt Extreme!, which has 5 things to do, and looks a bit like a steering wheel. it includes "Spin it!", but that's as much as I know. --M-A
