Emulator

One of the most useful emulators, for me, is DosBox (or its similar cousin, Bochs) - both emulate a 386.  DosBox runs natively, so it is faster - but less compatible.  Bochs is a full simulator so is practically perfect apart from the speed.  Both are wonderful for playing those old games that refuse to run under Windows.  --Vitenka (I guess Wine? is in this category too)

Or real and topical warnings that Wine takes longer to get the security fixes than windows does, since the official patchs don't work.  Of course, it doesn't always suffer from the problems in the first place.  --Vitenka (The WMF vulnerability is present and unfixed.)

(PeterTaylor) Depends on what you mean by "unfixed". I saw a patch on SlashDot? this morning.

As currently relased, as of the post.  The WikiNow has,m I assume, moved on.  --Vitenka (Though still worth bearing in mind, as most people don't autopatch.)

(PeterTaylor) And reports on SlashDot? said that the initial vulnerability report included said patch.
