A chain of cinemas set up in the UK in the early part of this century by a man called Oscar Deutsch. Odeon stands for "Oscar Deutsch Entertains Our Nation", and the cinemas were the first to offer a taste of luxury to the general public right through the chain.

Once upon a time, many many years ago, there used to be a Cinema? taking up the whole of the building that is now the RegalPub and the ArtsCinema.  It was a Cinema? with a proper moving-letters film-display sign thingy, and a bar, and big staircases and everything, and it was run by the OdeonCinema company.  It closed in about 1998.

People coming here from Google searches for "odeoncinema" (sic) - an astonishing 10-12 people per week: you probably want [this] page.

y'know, I don't think Google was designed to cope with wiki's - it makes the odd assumption that lots of crosslinking means that the target probably has something to do with the title :)

You mean we're actually managing to seriously break Google in a 'Look at me! Look at me! Look at me!' way? Great... Most people try to charge quite a lot for that service.

(PeterTaylor) The theory behind the way Google works, which is valid for most of the web, is that pages can be categorised into pages with contents and pages with links to lots of other pages on the same topic. The index-style pages with most authority are the ones linked to by most other pages, and the content-pages with most links from authoritative index-style pages are the best content-style pages. I don't know whether or not Google discounts links within a site - it certainly ought to. Anyway - odeoncinema only gets 22 hits.

Actually, I think it's the searcher - if you put 'odeoncinema' with no break, you get this page. If you put 'odeon cinema', you get a much more sensible page. There may be a lot of broken keyboards out there :) - SunKitten

Strangely, possibly as a result of wikis, or page naming habits, SqueezingWordsTogether is sometimes a good search strategy -- Senji

The only multiplex in Cambridge is run by Warner (CB1 1PS ). You can see what's on today and book tickets [here].

They're building one (apparently) on the old cattle yard - just the far side of the rail bridge, on Hills Road. Oh, and the Arts Picturehouse has 3 screens, I believe.
Well, they're still pushing it through planning I believe.  Warner are fighting a rear-guard action...
