KKLA - The Spirit of Los Angeles

A Christian radio station in the Southern California area that Kazuhiko occasionally tunes into when driving.  Sometimes because it is interesting, sometimes because it is amusing, often because it has fewer adverts than most other stations.

KKLA is now the subject of occasional mocking and derision at Oblivion whenever Edith gets bored and no one stops him from putting it on. How long this will last remains to be seen.

If nothing else, it's very interesting to compare oratory skills between the different preachers and see who can keep a message interesting and who just degenerates into a background drone.

It's nowhere near as extreme as I was expecting (but then I was expecting something one step short of "Jesus He Knows Me" by Genesis...) but it does come up with the odd... point of contention, shall we say...

The last thing I was listening to was a guy talking about the first chapter of Genesis.  My reaction was vague interest right up to the point where he said "And this is the Word of God and when it says one day it means one literal day and so we can see that evolution can not be correct."  Certainly an interesting line of argument...

It often has amusing quotes...

(male presenter): God?  How do you see me, as a woman?

(advert): And this CD can be yours as a gift from us in appreciation of your donation of $20 or more...

I think they save the fire'n'brimstone preaching until later in the evening...  The bit I just heard was rather more 'and they're all going to Hell!' than the stuff earlier in the day.

Hold on, let me get this straight - you're still listening to it? ;) - MoonShadow

Could someone fill in some blanks for me?

What is the Millenial Kingdom?  I'm guessing it is Earth after Judgement Day but I've never heard the term before.
I think so.  That terminology hasn't been exported anywhere.  It might be the kingdom of heaven itself, though.  --Vitenka
It's probably the 1000 years referred to in NIV: Rev2. --M-A
''Having read that link, I see no reference to a thousand year kingdom.  Did I miss it or is the link going to the wrong place? --K
Typo for NIV: Rev20, I expect - tjm
Indeed.  I tried to type 20... --M-A

Is Satan and the Antichrist the same thing?  He was mixing his terms more than a little.
Usually the anti-christ is the prophet of the end of the world, satans answer to christ - sometimes the son of satan in the same messy triumvurate as christ is the son of god.  Depends upon who you ask.  The closest direct bible reference is 'the beast'.  Also note that every pope has been deemed the antichrist at some point, by someone.  --Vitenka
NIV: &search=antichrist - the passages returned call sets of people antichrists, without further defining what "antichrist" is. - MoonShadow
(PeterTaylor) "Anti" - Gk prefix meaning "instead of". So David Koresh (leader of the Branch Davidian cult in Waco), who convinced his followers that he was Christ come again, would be an example. I'm sure there is a reference to a specific antichrist who deceives a large number of people somewhere (probably in Revelation) but I can't find it right now.
Yes, I thought I remembered something like that too, but all I could find was NIV: Rev19: 20 and NIV: Rev20: 10 - which mention a false prophet in passing; I can't seem to find where he's first introduced by quick skimreading, and don't have time to read the text properly right now. - MoonShadow
Try Daniel - SunKitten (in memory of all those 'abominations of desolation')

Who or what are false prophets?  Just people who try to convince you that Satan is right or is there more to it than that?
Other than a band, I presume that they are anyone who sets themselves up as a cult leader claiming to have the authority of God when they really don't.  Which is ironic, since I'd say that this presenter is one.  --Vitenka
False prophets: NIV: 2Pet2: 1 - MoonShadow

Apparently when all the non-Christians are in Hell Satan will give them all ID cards...  I got a bit lost at this point I will admit.  I'm guessing the preacher doesn't like ID cards... --K
Reference 'mark of the beast' - it's a bit of an indirect way to stir up hatred against cards, I agree.  --Vitenka
There's a bit in Revelation where everyone on earth shall be given a number on their hand or their forehead, without which they can neither buy or sell. Naturally, people are now saying it's credit cards *sigh* but I thought that was before the final judgement etc etc not once in Hell (what use is buying and selling there?). This guy seems more than a little confused - SunKitten
NIV: &search=mark beast gives NIV: Rev13: 15-17 for the mark, then NIV: Rev14: 9-12, NIV: Rev16: 2, NIV: Rev19: 20... for what happens to people with the mark. - MoonShadow
