The first thing one is likely to notice about the anime is that the opening credits are a little lacklustre; this is perhaps understandable, since it intends to use them to introduce all 32 of the main characters.
Early impressions... a lot less fanservice, even implied fanservice, than the manga. Many will consider this a good thing. In fact, overall everything seems gentler; more about people and magic than panties.
Unfortunately, it's not doing that great a job of it. With more than 32 semi-major characters to draw, character designs have been skimped on, and it shows. Even the main characters (already simple in the manga) have become little more than the worst stereotype of anime designs, identical girls differentiated only by hair colour and height. Character development suffers too, though not as badly. With a character introduction rate faster even than SisterPrincess, it's commendable that a couple of them do still manage to leave an impression on the viewer.
If it's careful with the manga storylines it chooses to adopt, and juggles its 32-odd characters well, the series could turn out as good as the LoveHina anime (for similar reasons). It has many hurdles to overcome first, though.
