Three girls and a ferret explore the mysteries of the universe through talking to Dandelions.

It appears to be HaremAnime - and it gets the introductions over in record time.  I'm too scared to watch further.  Someone tell me how it turns out.  --Vitenka

BwaHaHaHa.  Yes, it does rather, doesn't it?  Tsunami and myself watched the first episode, and spent enough time alternately falling over with laughter and going YerWhat?? that we decided we ought to see a bit more.  --AlexChurchill

It'll have to work hard pretty hard to beat SisterPrincess on the introduction level...  It managed 4 in the first ep and then brought the number up to 13 in the second...  Let me know if it manages it :) --Kazuhiko

Well, I don't know how many total - but it introduces them at a rate of (roughly) one every three seconds until I stopped watching.  --Vitenka  (Crashes into girl coming out of bathroom, panics, runs smack into YoungerKittenSister, gets hugged, is looked upon disapprovingly by Velma, runs away kitty in tow - front door slams open crushing them against wall behind it to introduce the last.)

Um, there's this schoolkid (probably a SociallyIneptMaleMainCharacter, although he doesn't seem too bad yet), who heads off to the big scary mansion on the hill because he wants to take some photos of ghosts.  (His reason for wanting them is sweet if rather misplaced, and won't be gone into here.)  He discovers three sisters and their (possibly robotic?) maid... all terrifying in completely different ways (in the way that LoveHina's Suu, Naru, Kitsune, Haruka, Motoko, Sara... are all terrifying in different ways).  Oh, and the three sisters are named Ai, Mai and Mii.  The preview of episode 2 hints at another main female character to come, who like the others will be terrifying, mysterious, and cute.

Main male character bloke hasn't moved in with all the girls yet, but by the laws of HaremAnimes it's only a matter of time.  The unexpected ending to Episode 1 notwithstanding.

So far (from 1 episode) it seems three parts slapstick comedy, two parts fanservice, one part mystery.  The fanservice is quite heavy in places, but the rather surreal humour will get me to watch another episode or two yet.

Brought to you by the School of (Possibly) Excessively Parenthesised (Bracketed) Reviews.

Goes some way towards proving how potent an hallucinogenic you can produce from Dandelions...  Surprisingly, it strikes me more as an AhMyGoddess clone than a HaremAnime in many ways (particularly that the main character seems to have one 'love interest', rather than all of them).  The FanService is particularly heavy but, in a surprising leap of good taste for anime, is limited so far to the eldest of the females... --Kazuhiko (who is going to watch part 2 but probably not beyond that)

Yes, PoPoTan does indeed make known the mind-twisting effects of DandelionAbuse? more than almost anything else.  It looks like it's not even going to be a HaremAnime to the extent that AhMyGoddess was, though.  For some reason I ended up at the Japanese website for the anime and there's a rather notable absence of one particular type of images.  Will watch Episode 2 tonight with Tsunami and confirm/deny as best we can tell.  Then I guess we'll be waiting for Ep 3 to be shown in Japan.  --AlexChurchill

Well, it wins points on some accounts.  The misdirection of the first ep being one of them.  It's actually quite sweet as well...  but the FanService is still there in moderately large quantities (and please forget my earlier comment about taste *sigh*).  I'll probably watch more, but won't be holding my breath for the next ep.  I will admit the Unagi-girl cracks me up though :) --Kazuhiko (Oyashumi Nashai!)
Ah, you beat me to it, Kazuhiko-sama.  My thoughts for the first minute or two were roughly "Oh dear, Kazuhiko will be a bit disappointed with this", from a FanService point of view ^o^  But I do like the genuine emotion exploration (it helps that Mai-chan was my favourite of the characters... I suspect the next few will be filling out the characters of Ai, Mii, and Mea). I can't decide whether I like the misdirection of Episode 1... it's quite cool to be thrown for a roll like that, but they'll probably gain/lose viewers based on whether they like HaremAnime or not.  Of course, for all we know it might turn into a HaremAnime after 6 episodes.  It would be quite interesting to see what all this dandelion / PoPoTan stuff is about.  --AC

Ok - if it becomes somethig other than harem - will someone please tell me what?  --Vitenka
"KokoroLibrary - Uncut" perhaps?
Wha?
(I, My and Me.  Spell it however you like, that's almost certainly the reason for the names)
Yes, but calling someone 'I' is going to cause headaches for everyone involved :)  As for an explanation of the series, how about: "Three girls and a ferret explore the mysteries of the universe through talking to Dandelions"  --Kazuhiko
Hey, don't forget Mea-san.  There's four girls: Ai, Mai, Mii and Mea.  (Yes, I know the first three are I, My and Me, but... what's Mea then?  I suppose it's Latin for "me"...)  Mea is the maid to the other three who call each other sisters (although at least one of them has totally different regional accent to the others).  Mea acts robotic, but may not turn out to actually be robotic.  Quite why they're directed around the universe by dandelions, and what sinister purpose the dandelions have for them, has yet to be divulged by the stoned cleaner - er, RNG - er, scriptwriter.  --AlexChurchill ("tanpopo" = Japanese for "dandelion".  "PoPoTan" = nonsense rearrangement of "tanpopo")

Having seen episode 5, while the fanservice and slapstick continues at a constant level, we have now acquired serious plot :)

There is also a game, released simultaneously with the anime AFAICT in Japan.  Which has a playable demo (!) available for download from about 10 different mirrors linked from [this page].  (Probably needs a Japanese-compatible OS, ie WinXP or Win2000.)  The demo hasn't shown any evidence of fanservice in the slightest yet (unlike the disturbing opening movie on the downloads page - be warned!!). However, it has shown instead a bizarre dancing game (like DDR), where you try to help Mii build up magic power for her  Parrareru Magicaru ... and I've proved utterly unable to do any good at it ^^;;  Maybe time for one of our resident DDR experts to tell us what happens if you can get Mii enough magic power to cast something??  (The keys for the dancing section are numpad 4,6,1,3 )  --AC

She looks happy rather than sad at the end of the sequence.  No magical effects or anything.  It might have affected the story, but I was in fast-forward mode and wouldn't have been able to tell anyway.  *shrug*  --Kazuhiko
Hehehe. Well, thanks for the info... it probably affects more in the actual game itself.  I can tell you loved the game *so* much... ;) --AC
The game itself (the dancing bit) wasn't bad.  I just found some images on the site quite disturbing and I can only assume they come from the game.  I guess I really shouldn't be surprised but *shudder* --Kazuhiko
